When you know that you’re not a fan of the gym, it’s super easy to believe that you’re just not going to be able to work out at all. But that’s not ever the case. Hitting the gym is just one of the many options that you have to get fit. Alongside running and taking classes, you could definitely try out a sport or two too! Sports are great for making sure that all aspects of your health are taken care of. You’ll often work on your cardiovascular fitness, your strength, your agility, and your flexibility when you’re playing sports. And best of all, you’ll get to have a lot of fun too! But sometimes, you just don’t know what sport you should go for. So let’s look at a few ways to find out.

Know Yourself

First of all, you have to really make sure that you’re picking out a sport that is perfect for you. To do this, you are should be incredibly objective and just start to think about the things that you like or are good at. Do you like to be outside or inside? Do you like to be in a big group or a smaller team? Do you prefer cardio based exercise or more strategic? These can seem like crazy questions to ask yourself, but as you work through things, you should start to figure out sports that fit.

Do Some Research

Next, you’re going to want to make sure that you do a bit of research into what’s available. Because a lot of the time, you will find that when you’re trying to think of sports, only the same kind (and popular) choices come to mind. So get yourself online, using sites such as, and read recommendations and reviews. You may find that you stumble across the perfect option this way.

Try It Out

It’s also worth noting that you may not be able to really work out whether something is going to be right for you until you try it. And if you’re serious about starting a sport that you could love, then you really do need to just get stuck in and try out some different options to work out which ones you do actually find enjoyable.

But then, you may also want to just do things different altogether. With alternative sports like, why stick to soccer or tennis? When you could be jumping off of things, diving into things, or just running around and having fun! Sometimes, doing things really differently will pay off for you.

Above all else, if you really want to work out what kind of sport you should go with, you’re going to want to go with your gut. Listen to your best instincts. If a particular sport just stands out as being one that you should go for, go for it. You know what you like, you know what you’ll be most likely to stick at and enjoy, so just go with it and have fun.
