Ben Savage and Danielle Fisher played everyone’s favorite 90s teen couple Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, and they’re about to step into those roles once again.

I am a huuuuuuge, HUGE 90s fangirl. Boy Meets World is still one of the most wonderful shows ever to grace our tv screens, and I wish every day that people made TV the way they used to. It was funny, but it touched on real things as well, and I think that is so important. I hold such a special spot in my heart for Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence and Mr. Feeny and Shawn Hunter etc etc etc. So when I heard the news that Disney Channel is going to be making a sequel of sorts called ‘Girl Meets World’ I nearly peed myself. This is everything I’ve ever hoped for. They’re going to make the show center around Cory and Topanga‘s daughter, and the original creator Michael Jacobs was going to be behind the new show. I was ecstatic, though a bit concerned since the new Disney shows haven’t been that great. I just knew that I needed to have faith because while Shake It Up might be my own idea of hell, Disney is also behind some favoites from my childhood like Lizzie McGuire and That’s So Raven. I was sure that the news couldn’t get any better….. and then it did!

GUYS. CORY AND TOPANGA ARE COMING BACK TO ME!!!!! It’s official, Ben Savage (Cory) and Danielle Fisher (Topanga) are signed on to do at least the pilot episode, and that’s good enough for me! I found out not that long ago, and I shit you not I sat here and weeped like a little baby over this news. Cory and Topanga were my first ever ship, and an unsinkable ship at that. The last we heard of them they were setting off to NYC together, and now we know they have a daughter named Riley. *le sigh* The whole point of this blog is to let you all know that Danielle and Ben were signed off, of course, but also to fangirl with you all. No seriously, can we please all fangirl together? I don’t care if they have the rest of the characters be a bunch of little garden gnomes, CORY AND TOPANGA ARE BACK. Apparently, Anthony Tyler Quinn who played Mr. Tanner is also interested in stopping by the show. Now we just need Rider Strong (Shawn)and Will Fredle (Eric) to come out of the woodwork. Surely one of them is little Riley’s godfather? I’ll also be keeping my fingers crossed for William Daniels (Mr. Feeny) to make an appearance. I won’t hold my breath for any of them, obviously, but a girl can dream. I mean, it is said that Cory will be working as a history teacher like Mr. Feeny. Let’s hope for at least an appearance. HOPE WITH ME PEOPLE!
