2012 Presidential Election – I’m team Mos Def

It’s been four years since the last election, and that means it’s time for debates and Twitter wars and one giant migraine. Okay, maybe that last part just happens to me. Honestly, I could just go on and on about how this candidate is clearly talking out of his asshole and how this candidate is better than that candidate and blah blah blah, but I’m not going to. Instead, I’m going to share with you a video from 2009 in which Mos Def explains what he would do if he were president. Honestly, he sounds like the best candidate.

I’m 21, and this is the first year that I will be allowed to vote. I missed the last election by only a year, and it really bothered me that the people around me that could vote chose not to. I know it seems like our votes don’t matter, that we’re just one person, that the electoral college is what really dictates our country’s fate. But we need to vote. We need to let both candidates know exactly what we stand for, and we can’t back down. This is an election year that we are all involved in. Women’s rights and student loans and gay marriage. These are all topics that are going to be brought up, and we need to make sure that the right candidate gets elected, whichever candidate that may be. We will be heard.

If you’re not already registered to vote, get registered. Now. Then, on November 6th, go out and vote. I am, will you?
