Google is looking for Pokémon Masters, which is the best thing they could ever do.
I don’t know about you, but I love Pokémon. I always have, I always will. I’ll never forget watching the first episode with my cousins and falling madly in love with Ash Ketchum, Pikachu and his friends Misty and Brock. I obsessed over the show, cried during the movie, bought the soundtrack and played it on loop. I memorized the Poké rap and I collected all the cards and owned all the games. (My cousin and I would even cheat so that we could have each of the starter Pokémon). I don’t watch the show anymore, I just couldn’t keep up once they brought in more than 150 Pokémon, but I’ll find myself picking up the game every once in a while and remembering why I loved it so much in the first place.
Google is no stranger to brilliant campaigns and “easter eggs“, from ‘Do The Barrel Roll‘ to playing snake on YouTube. But I’ve got to say, this time, they’ve really out done themselves. You have until 2 pm PST on April 2nd, 2014 to find as many Pokémon as you can and become an official Google Pokémon Master. Our good friends at Google have put together the following informational video for us all to enjoy.
Now while it’s not actually as cool as it seems in the video (you don’t need to run through jungles or climb mountains), the fact still stands that you can find some Pokémon in real life! How awesome is that? Download the Google Maps App on your iPhone or Android and when you go to ‘Search’, hit Start instead and you’ll instantly start your journey to becoming the best that ever was! Make sure you zoom in and move around the entire world (!!!) to find as many Pokémon as you can! Be warned though, I started writing this blog about an hour ago and kept stopping because I was distracted catching Pikachu in Tokyo.
I’ve caught 59 so far, some duplicates, out of the 150 needed. It’s addicting, it’s fun, and it’s hard as hell! Do you think you’ve got what it takes to be the best damn Pokémon trainer in this region? Leave a comment with how many you’ve caught so far and we can have a friendly competition!

Best prank ever! Took me hours to complete, but was so much fun. Hoping they come out with another version full of different Pokemon and different locations.
