One Direction will be releasing a limited edition vinyl of their most recent album to support Record Store Day. Record Store Day is on Saturday April 19th.
Get ready fangirls, because One Direction is about to release something new! The band’s website posted an article today to announce that One Direction’s newest album Midnight Memories will be available as a vinyl to purchase for Record Store Day. That means that the vinyl will not be available to buy online, and it’s limited edition, so if you want one you’re going to have to act fast! Not only are they releasing it as a vinyl (which in and of itself is amazing, because all music just sounds better on vinyl) but they also are releasing never before seen pictures and a HILARIOUS homage to 70s and 80s rock music with their new album artwork. ACE!
For those of you that don’t know, Record Store Day started in 2007 as a way to celebrate independent record stores and “the unique culture” found only in these small shops, a culture that most people have forgotten in this digital age. While it started in the United States, there are now over 1,000 stores participating internationally, and it’s something that I hope more and more people find out about and get involved in.
Since One Direction is only releasing this for Record Store Day, you won’t be able to purchase it online. It’s also limited edition, so most people will only be allowed to buy one. Keep checking their Twitter and Facebook for more information, and a list of physical independent record store’s that will have it in stock. As of now, it can be assumed that it will only be available to UK residents, but I’ll update this post when I know for sure.
Record Store Day is on Saturday April 19th, 2014, and I encourage you all to go out and check out a local shop, if not even purchase a vinyl, and embrace what music used to be like.
(I feel really obligated to include a One Tree Hill gif here, sorry. LOOK AT ALL HER VINYLS! I want her collection.)
