Zombieland becomes a television series.

Everyone’s favorite Zombieland survivors have been re-casted and sent to the land of television.

For those of you that don’t know, or don’t remember, Zombieland came to theaters in October of 2009. The movie starred Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin and it was flawless! I mean really. I went to go see that movie 5 times in theaters, and then when it came out on DVD I bought it and watched it so many times that I wore the disc out and had to go buy a new one. It was funny, just scary enough that it made me jump, suspenseful, and the acting was perfect. Each actor brought something really unique and lovable to their characters. PLUS there was a Bill Murry cameo that was so brilliant I couldn’t contain myself.

I’ve been waiting three and a half long yeas for a Zombieland sequel, and today I kind of got one – in the form of a new tv series. With all new actors. I know….. bummer. Amazon released the pilot episode of the new Zombieland series online and I just got done streaming it. On a positive note, it’s all the same writers so it’s just as funny and quirky as the movie. However, the new actors are just missing some sort of…. something. They don’t have the same sparkle and charisma that the originals had, and that really takes away from the story for me. Those who haven’t seen the movie before (or maybe only saw it once) might not notice the difference as much. Fingers crossed for that. Also, why on earth is Tallahassee a dumbass now? I’m all for “dumb” characters for the sake of comedy, but Tallahassee was a badass and funny just the way he was. Take a look at the trailer below:

I know people are upset because the original actors aren’t in it, but we all need to stop whining and be honest with ourselves here. Woody, Emma, Jesse and Abigail are all big name actors. Also, they’re all busy filming things. I’d rather have a TV Series with new actors than absolutely nothing at all. The writers are all still the same. Don’t give up on it just because it’s different. Also, side note, Zombieland was supposed to be a TV show before it was made into a movie. Just please don’t fail me by not watching it people!!

With all that said, I’m really hoping the series does well. I’ll be turning in every week, despite the coldness I feel towards the new actors. Maybe they can do another re-cast? At least for Wichita? There’s definitely a market on tv for a zombie show that’s funny, and I hope that Zombieland can feel that gap. You can stream the pilot episode for free (for a short time) by clicking here.
