Have you ever looked at a successful entrepreneur, perhaps one you admire (or one who’s your competition!), and wondered how they got so lucky?

After all, if you’re doing the same things, why are they seemingly so much luckier than you?
The truth is that although luck will play a small part in someone’s success – usually in the ‘right place, right time’ kind of sense – it’s definitely not everything, and there are plenty of elements you can put in place to make sure you get where you want to go. In fact, there might come a point when people look at you and ask how you got so lucky! So, with that in mind, keep reading to find out more.
Be Prepared
The thing about luck is that if you’re prepared, you’re much more likely to not only spot great opportunities, but be in a position to do something with them, so although it might look lucky from an outsider’s point of view, you will have put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes.
In fact, being prepared is possibly one of the most important parts of being lucky – it means things won’t catch you out and take you by surprise, and you’ll be able to keep up to date with things that are happening in your industry. That can be all it takes to find the luck you’re looking for, but at the very least, having a plan in place that you can follow means you’re much more likely to be successful anyway, so it does all work out and make sense.
Take Calculated Risks
Luck might seem to be fairly random in a lot of cases, but what if you could bring yourself luck more often than not? That’s what making and taking calculated risks is all about – it makes it much more likely that you’ll be lucky.
You can think of it in terms of the big wins someone might make at a poker table. They’re going to think carefully before every move, and they’re going to analyze their hand, the rest of the players, and the potential winnings to make an informed choice. Yes, it’s still a gamble, but the risk is a calculated one, so there’s less to go wrong. Without knowing about all the decisions and analysis that had to go on, it could look as though someone was just lucky, but that’s very rarely the case.
Learn From Failure
Even when you’re taking a calculated risk, sometimes things don’t turn out the way you want them to, and that’s going to be potentially costly. However, it can also be a fantastic stroke of luck if you think about how you could learn from the failure and what it could help you with in the future.
By learning from your mistakes and see what went wrong when you fail at something, you can ensure nothing like that happens again, and you’ll become a lot more successful (or lucky) as a result.
